After an absolutely fabulous inaugural event last year, Judy’s Drag Ball is back for round two. This Sunday, join two very talented Drag Race Down Under alum—Gabriella Labucci and Isis Avis Loren—and more than 20 other performers as they strut their stuff around In The Hanging Garden.
Organised by Pussay Poppins, The Drag Ball is an opportunity for drag queens, kings, and things from around Tasmania to showcase their brilliance. More than that, however, it’s a safe (and accessible) space for queer people and their allies to come together and celebrate community.
Speaking with Not Safe For Queers, Pussay Poppins says, “I just wanted to put on another really good show for people. So, we’ve got more performers than last year, and we’ve set it up so that as much space is as visible as possible so that people can have a really good experience.”
“I’m really excited. It’s going to be wild.”
It follows a successful inaugural event last year, which saw the likes of Kween Kong and Hannah Conda perform alongside an entirely different roster of local drag queens, and which raised funds for Working It Out, Equality Australia, and TasPride.
This year’s festivities kick off at In The Hanging Garden at midday sharp, but those with VIP tickets secure early entry to the event, dedicated seating close to the stage, and an exclusive meet and greet with Isis Avis Loren and Gabriella Labucci from 11.30am.
Performers* include last year’s top two, Val Morgan and Persephone, and Judge Judy finalists, X Quizette and Astridisiac, with beats provided by the talented DJ TMcGee and DJ Jigglypuff.
